Educational Partnerships
As part of our commitment to education and the arts, we present dynamic live performances for partner schools, giving students meaningful access to the magic of the stage. Students from Boston Public Schools attended a behind-the-scenes performance of Act II to see what it takes to produce a show. Working with state officials, we identify schools that will benefit most from this partnership, ensuring students from all backgrounds can experience the arts in intimate settings. Lam Dance Works also supports lasting growth through transformative scholarships for underserved inner-city students—where Lam’s own journey as a dancer began. This is more than a performance; it’s about opening lifelong pathways to creativity, expression, and inspiration.

John Lam’s journey from a four-year-old aspiring dancer at the Marin Ballet in San Rafael, CA, to an internationally renowned artist is a testament to the unwavering love and support of his community as well as his own relentless passion, discipline, and vision. Lam’s story is one of resilience and transformation—a journey propelled by the belief that dance can transcend barriers, enrich lives, and celebrate the extraordinary in the everyday.

History: Lam Dance Works was founded in 2024 by John Lam, marking the next chapter after his 20-year career with Boston Ballet. Inspired by a career defined by innovation and collaboration, the company carries forward his legacy while embracing new possibilities.
